Pain 8 weeks after RRP

Hi All

Its been 2 months post surgery and I am still having rectal pains now and then, most of the time when I’ve done some sort of activity like walking.

Most of the time pain I experience is when I lay down or sit down. Already saw urologist last week he did ultrasound to see everything is fine inside and ultrasound was normal, PSA suggests no mets as <.008.

I’ve read various forums and it says pain will be there for 3-6 months. Also I am relived after taking pain killers.

Anyone with the similar experience?

Just be careful with the pain meds. If they are narcotic meds, they may actually slow down your digestive system and constipate you, which may then aggravate rectal SE's.

After open-heart-surgery, I was told to use Miralax daily at first, then when things normalized, cut to half dose, then quarter before finally stopping it. Miralax is a laxative, but it is not a stimulant, so it does not cause muscle spasms, which may cause more pain, etc.
