I have a prosthetic hip which caused some significant artifact in certain parts of the 3T MRI making it not completely reliable, but what it did show was no lesions. I'm trying to get a clearer analysis to further support that I only have Gleason 6. Just started AS. Anyone know if the Endorectal Coil MRI would be a good next step to get a better picture of what is happening. I believe its only used to see what is happening external to the prostate. Thoughts, opinions?
I know that the only way I can truly know is to have it removed and analyzed.

If you can find a urologist who does template-mapping biopsies, that would give you even more confidence than an mpMRI-targeted biopsy. Endorectal coils help focus the magnetic field inside the prostate, but I don't know if it will still give artifacts with your hip.

As someone that had an MRI with an endorectal coil, I can tell you that it was the worst hour of my 18-month treatment. For that reason alone, you should really make sure that it would be likely to provide you the data you need.

I had an MRI with the endorectal coil before and after my surgery so it must work for area's around the prostate also. I didn't think it was really anything but the girls did a great job prepping so that might have made it easier what sucked is you can't even listen to music during the MRI which lasted both times about 1:15 minutes.

The power of the MRI, T 3 vs T1.5, and the skill of the radiologist reading it are more important than the endo rectal coil.

Had an endo rectal MRI that showed nothing. Later had an MRI without coil read by Dr Barantsz, one of the best in the world in reading MRIs that clearly identified a 2.5 cm tumor.

You too? rolleyes . That was a horrible experience. My da Vinci surgeon told me the MRI report was extremely useful during surgery so I suppose it was worth the suffering.
