PSA lab to lab?

Background:
I have been using the same lab for years. They use the Roche cobas method for measuring PSA.

I am changing to different PCP hence a different lab but I find they also use Roche cobas. The question is.....can I still expect a difference or should results compare?

Old lab last tested 6/5/17 PSA 6.01
New lab tested 10/10/17 PSA 6.07

They should compare is they are using the same method. There still might be a few differences, and even PSA tests done by the same lab can vary a bit.

We've talked about this frequently in here. And, yes, there are variations between labs, and between methods. The biggest issues seem to be with some of the national chain labs such as LabCorp and Quest. So much depends on the actual individual lab that does the analysis, and whether they really follow the established protocols.

It's best to stick with one lab.

Thanks. I do plan on a single lab but had to change PCP so had to start over with another lab as well.
