ED drugs to aid sexual function after radiation treatments.
Nearing the end of SHARP or CYBERKNIFE treatments for prostate cancer.
Just wondering how many of you have been prescribed low dose viagra or cialis to aid with sexual function after treatment is completed. You can also use them during treatment. I think I am in too much pain now so I will wait till after treatment to start.
I also heard about
TRENTAL which also increases bloodflow to the area. I will see what my doctor says.
Right now he has prescribed generic Viagra, he says cialis is probably more effective but should go generic in a few months. I've read they plan to sell cialis genric over the counter. This would be great for some but crazy as even now many younger people who are completely sexually functional are using it because they got hooked on being superman in bed with the ladies. They won't even have sex without it.
Anyway, back to us that need it...I've responded very well to cialis in the past. I only needed a 5 mg to keep it up for a good amount of time...and then again the same day and night..... and it worked for 36 hours or more. (obviously it worked that well for me because I never totally needed it...but sometime partially did). I can't see taking it everyday...although I wouldn't mind some days...but there can always be too much of a good thing. Perhaps your body gets used to it and it dosen't have that much of an effect over time.
I know these drugs are prescribed in other procedures like RP and others so its a known thing to get the blood flow down there going.
So for now I will be taking 20 mg of viagra daily. The doctor said it shouldn't be enough to cause a "woody" but it could and kind of laughed. I never tried viagra but I do know its short acting.
I've also read about
the "use it or lose it" articles, which make sense. The penis is a muscle and after long periods of time it loses its ability to become erect. Of course ********** or having intercourse is scary and possibly painful with side effects (everyone remembers the first time after a biopsy) As horny as you get the idea of ejaculation blood is not exactly sexually stimulating. I suppose becoming erect without ejaculating can be helpful. Although I usually have the urge to finish.
I'm sure many of you who have been through this have very good sexual function without taking any of these meds in recovery....but from my point of view...if studies shows there is a known benefit to doing this...why not?
