SE from meds - swollen stomach?

Husband started Zytiga and prednisone in December. Everything normal in early January blood work. He's been trying to loose weight but his stomach is getting larger even though there is no weight gain. The beer belly now makes him look 8 months pregnant.

Is this a SE from the meds or something he should talk to the MO about?

Most of the edema he had from the chemo last spring is gone, although there is occasional swelling in his ankles and legs if he sits too much at work - his standing desk has really helped with that. I've encouraged him to call the MO and get some blood work done as most doctors keep a closer eye on Zytiga/prednisone patients. I think this may be the first time this MO has had a patient on this regiment and may not realize the SE's associated with taking this combination of drugs.

I've been trying to research swollen stomach but my search is coming up with a lot of nothing substantial so I turned to the experts here in this group.

I hope the doctor can determine what is going on --- keep in touch with us here.

I am also on ZYTIGA, as are many of the members here.

In my case, my primary oncologist has me do lab work, every single month, to stay on top of everything --- and to remain proactive, in case any adverse side effects would occur.

Stay vigilant --- stay on top of things --- and rely on the expertise of your medical team.
