Do we have to call it terminal?

I’m new to this PC world, and I’ve been on lupron and casodex and now started taxotere. PSA roller coaster past 10 months went from 18 to 35 to 58. Then after 4 months of casodex and three lupron shots it’s as 2.82. I’m going to to five more taxotere infusions and hope to see a negligible PSA. C11 acetate scan will hopefully be clean 30 days later. From there I’ll continue the perfect cancer diet, exercise, CBD oils, casodex and lupron and watch like a hawk for any PSA upticks for the rest of my life.

DO WE HAVE TO CALL THIS TERMINAL CANCER?

That is so not my attitude-and maybe I’m freakin naive, but I don’t want to hear that from anyone. There’s no way I’m going to assume or conclude that I will die of PC. I’m not ever giving into this thing. I just have a long-term challenge to stay so healthy that the PC will give up—not me.

Life is terminal. Is your cancer terminal? Only if it is what does you in. Perhaps you get to the point that it is causing your demise, then it could be terminal. From what you are reporting I don’t think your PCa is terminal by any means.

Our good friend Todd1963 was diagnosed with advanced terminal PCa more than 10 years ago. He continues to live a life that is more full than anyone I know and his PSA is undetectable. I guess the proper term would be ‘slow motion kinda sorta might be terminal’.

I’ve kicked the words, terminal and incurable, to the curb. I’m ok with treating a “chronic disease”.

Steve, your titled, NS your approach, are pure gold. Don't ever let anyone, medical professional or otherwise, even try, to take that away from you. As Jnf said, we're all terminal. Life is terminal. PC doesn't change that, it just makes us more vigilant, and puts us in a position to have to put up with some stuff. Nothing more.

When you reach a certain age, "incurable" diseases start to accumulate like the wrinkles on your face and you should expend exactly the same amount of angst worrying about the one as the other. I have several incurable diseases that I am managing. (No, PCa is not one of them. I currently have it tentatively penciled into the 'cured' category.) I am managing them all quite successfully and am confident that none of them will do me in.

Terminal? Have you ever noticed that when you board a cruise ship it is at a terminal. When you board a plane it is at the terminal gate. Terminal to me is a place that takes you somewhere. Having said that, I suppose my cancer, any cancer, is terminal. It definitely takes you somewhere else. A change of scenery perhaps. I have a terminal illness. It has killed my Libido and yet somehow despite 12 years on hormones I can still have a wonderful physical love life with my wife. In many ways cancer Killed the man I use to be. Good riddance. He was an @$$#ole. JNF introduced me. It has been almost 12 years since my DX. At the time I had a PSA of over 3200 and metastasis everywhere. I had a doctor once who pulled back my collar and said he didn’t see an expiration date. I had a doctor who once told me I could live 30 years. I had a doctor who told me I had a year and one who told me I had 30 months. I fired them both outright. I believe that we all have a day. I believe that no matter what ends our life, it won’t be until that day. We are all dying from the day we are born. I have embraced that and accept it as a natural part of life. I use to adhere to a strict diet. Now I eat whatever I want whenever I want. I drink good wine. Indulge in chocolate occasionally eat desert first. Why? What good is life if we cannot enjoy it. I do not believe I will die of cancer. I am more
Likely to die in a snowmobile wreck or break my neck downhill skiing or wake boarding. For what it is worth, these are my 2 cents

Airports have terminals.
Buses sometimes stop at terminals.
Ships leave from a terminal where they dock.
A doc once told me that a train stops at a station,
but the sign above the door said depot that lead to
a track
where I boarded a train
for one hell of a trip.

track 2 - radiation destination
track 3 - HT beach and resort
track 4 - local line with stops at all stations.

This is all very inspirational but let’s hope medical science finds a way to kill cancer because it is a killer whether you define it as terminal or not. PCa kills tens of thousands annually.
