Question on Ultra sensitive PSA

I have been getting the ultra sensitive PSA test at a lab used by my Urologist. The result was always <.01. Last year my Uro suggested to just have it tested by my GP when I get my annual physical which I did on 2/18 and it was .03. That caused me some concern. I asked my GP if the test was ultra sensitive and he confirmed that it was. I requested a re-test which I did 3 days ago and the result came back .029 which is consistent with the one on 2/18. Are there different ultra sensitive tests?

Sure. There are different pieces of equipment, different test chemicals, different versions of equipment. That is why most of us insist that all tests be run by the same lab in the same way over time. But even then a lab may introduce an upgrade to hardware, software, or chemicals that throws us for a loop.
