PSA and ejaculation

I've done some reading and one study I found seemed to think PSA returns to baseline at 24-hours after ejaculation and another study I believe indicated a 0.2 rise in PSA.

Is this inline with everybody's understanding?

My urologist didn't warn me about ejaculation before the PSA test. I did so precisely (almost to the minute) 24-hours before the test.

As a refresher, my PSA was 5.2 (up from 2.9 a year previously) and free % was 7% (up from 15% a year earlier).

You have to look at the change relative to baseline. It was about 10% increase out to 48 hours in the UMich study. Try PHI next time.

When my PSA was to be retested following an initial PSA that was pretty high (71.4) and a course of antibiotic, the instructions from my URO for the retest were: "No heavy lifting, jogging, bike riding, long car rides and no sex (assuming that meant ejaculation) for 3 days before test is done".

The data are equivocal. They would need a very large randomized study to prove the effect, and why spend the money on a study like that when there are more useful things to learn?
