Eight years ago, this drug, approved for some types of cancer, showed great promise in treating advanced PC in early trials and studies. But recently, a phase 3 trial was terminated when the drug proved to be ineffective..The University of Michigan was involved in both of these investigations..

In the early trial, it was able to virtually eliminate bone mets in a significant percentage of the test subjects..

It was found to have no benefit in heavily pretreated men:

A recent re-analysis of the clinical trial data revealed there may have been a "modest" effect after controling for other risk factors:

I think several growth factor inhibitors would need to be used simultaneously to have any appreciable effect. And there is a toxicity cost in combining them.
