Your doc should not be too resistant to starting you on an A/D which could make all the difference in the world to your emotional well being. After all, it is estimated that one in three cancer patients suffer depression. And if you are a vet, call your local VA clinic. The first thing they will ask is if you are suicidal and will help you immediately. This is no joke. This is serious.

It's been 4 years since my diagnosis and I had bouts of severe anxiety during pre treatment and some of the PSA bounces. about a year ago my Primary-care doctor suggested Xanax. It's been a blessing. I suffered needlessly those first 3 years. Now I take it only occasionally when I really feel like I need it and stop after a day or two. I take the lowest dose of .25 mg.

My scorecard was 25 out of 35 ...severe urinary issues ..I had urgency ...once again not a problem ..told him I only sleep 4-5 a night ..he said oh u will sleep more ..I told him no I won’t I don’t nap never could ..l just think he should hsve maybe said to me that I may want to think about surgury ...like the dog gone surgeon said I should look into radiation if I’m not comfortable with siugrry cause they both hsve the same outcomes ,..but the surgeon did say he worries about the long term side effects of radiation because I’m young stil. So yes sorry have sone regrets ,,on flowmax 2 a day Bowel issues blood stool leaking and tired as hell and know it will get worse after brachytherapy...hope I don’t need a catherter ,,,because without flomax I am totally locked up ...so yes right now I hsve regrets ...that’s the way it is hopefully in a while these side effects will diminish and so will the regret....................sorry ...this is my last post ...hope people can understand

Stan, sorry you are thinking this is your last post. Sorry you feel (i assume) you are not getting the support you need here. I think if you stick around, it will be helpful to you in the long run. Your call

Eventually both your side effects and your outlook will improve Stan. I'm more cynical than most about PCa doctors, but I understand that it's impossible for them to be completely thorough, given the complexity and variability of each of our situations, not to mention the limitations on their time with each of us.

IMHO, you NEED to be here, even if it's only to read about the serious plight of many brothers.

when I first got here I was so freaked out that my wife told me to stay off this forum and others like it because she would handle the research.

so I logged off and even deleted my book marks. eventually I was able to come back. others come here and we seldom or never hear from them again.

that's just the way it is.

Well thanks fellas I am st the point now where I’m nit worrying anymore ...kinda don’t give a crap hope fir the best now ....I tried to stop treatment 2 times . I frickenung should hsve once after the first 2 treatments I was locked up got up 9 times Thursday and Friday 4 5 times sat. Sun all I did was dribble and burn ...I should have known and then again after 10 treatments ...well 1 more now and now I am on 2 flowmax and 4 ibrophen ..lockedup solid after radiation...can’t wait till Monday brachytherapy I know I will.be c home with a. Catheter ...jus5 got a feeling and it’s not good unless the give me flomax there before and oh yeah tomorrow is Thursday and no one has ****ing called me about the treatment ..no nurse no anethesiologist ..dint kniw where to go ..*** UCSF SAN FRANCISCO number 4 in the nation maybe I’m glad I didn’t have surgery well st least I don’t hsve diarrhea but I do leak out that end ...I think it’s better now to get mad than sad. But what do u do tell him off when your life is in his hands ...I actually apologized to him because I have been a pain complaining to him a lot ....I think he truly should hsve told me more. Supposedly an expert at brachytherapy and has been there for about 20 years ...

It gets better and better my fricking right side upper jaw has been hurting bad fir about 2 weeks ...went to dr told me it was something ....can’t figure it out not going teeth or clenching ..welll I just took a second flomaxx and now my moles and has are throbbing ...****ing great ....I can’t piss with out this stuff ..I can’t sleep because my jaw hurts now what any suggestions ..I don’t do heroin ....yet ....

Stan, do whatever you need to do to get thru this. Some of us really had a hard time going thru treatment when all kinds of other problems kept popping up that many of us never even mentioned here. You are not alone, though you seem to be having more problems than most. You will make it through and eventually it will all be good.

Stan--for the jaw pain--get an overnight mouth guard that will cushion things and keep you from grinding your teeth.

For the rest--you're on the downward slope now--it will get better quickly now.

No it’s the flomax need to think of something else here ...maybe Ibprophan ..thanks ...and thirsty ...need to drink water but afraid to mow cause I can’t pee

Stan, I apologize for giving you a hard time initially. I accused you of acting emotionally rather than rationally and that is basically how I reacted. We are all brothers in arms in the fight against cancer. We have some success stories and some bad results, but we have to keep fighting the good fight here. As was said many times before in many different ways...you are in the valley now and soon someday you will be atop the mountain once again! Good Luck with prayers and hopes for your speedy recovery. yeah

Thanks ..fellas ..all I need is to stop thinking I should hsve done this or that ...maybe I will just double up on ib propran for a while and see if that works ..all flowmaxx really is an anti imflamatory as well....just worried that brachytherapy on Monday will plug me up bad ......I just need to realize that if all this gets rid of the beast ..than painful peeing is no big deal ...I mean lots of guys here had radiation all I guess I’m asking is will the side effects slowly go away ..my doc say yes and soon rather here it from you guys ....I used to jog do sits ups all that ...hope I will be able too once again ...that’s all thanks everyone

It’s been a bit since I read the whole thread. I just rember the guy had been bashed a bit, so I was thinking here he is getting B slapped again. I missed the context. All is good, and I hope things get better for Stan.

Any advice guys .....having HDR boost Monday and scared shatless ..I guess this last month of EBR just wore me down ....I need to do this ...just looking fir advice and a pep talk thanks

Then you come here and complain about what they just did.
