The link below is to one of those mortality calculators that we've all seen, the ones that presume to give us an estimate of how much longer we likely have to live, with calculations based on things such as age, health, diet, medical history, etc.
Some of them are designed to calculate cancer mortality risk, and some of them are even more specific, such as the one below, designed to do PCa mortality risk for men on watchful waiting
So this particular calculator isn't going to apply to most of us, but it's still interesting. Its readout after one enters one's numbers reads
Death risk of prostate cancer
followed by a percentage.
Do read the "instruction background" column on right side of screen, if you do look at it. It describes how the calculator works, and adds:
"This calculator generates a new life expectancy by adjusting the life expectancy from the Social Security Life Tables using the mortality rates associated with watchful waiting." Kind of interesting. Certainly for those on AS.
