testosterone and psa increase

PSA will track increases in T levels. It's how it works - as more testosterone prostate tissue will generate more PSA.

What you're seeing is to be expected.

You're doing the right thing by exercising - unless you pull a muscle, get a hernia or otherwise hurt yourself.

Controlling PSA through diet is a challenge.

There might be other factors raising your T levels (and PSA). Hard to say.

You'll just have to keep monitoring the PSA. If it keeps rising you may have other decisions to make.

I doubt that it makes a difference to the cancer cells whether your T equals 420 or 660.
My unfortunate conclusion is that the cancer is 'growing' and that some sort of intervention is warranted.

I started back lifting today, I was never a consistent gym rat, but work out intermittently, not very useful. Now I’m trying to maintain some muscle getting ready for HT starting in two weeks, which I guess will challenge my muscle mass. Not sure how much with a short 6 month course of treatment.

I have no clue what my T is, will be tested for the first time ever, the day I start treatment, just before my first shot. But I highly doubt lifting weights will cause my PSA to rise, or more importantly, the cancer to grow.

Sometimes I think we all get caught up in the small stuff, and draw conclusions without knowing that cause and effect exists. I’m back to eating egg yolks and cheese. I’m not going to give up my favorite stuff in hopes it will keep my PSA down. And I’m not going to lose muscle mass without trying to stop it.

AK... JMHO but putting testosterone and diet aside I would think that rise in your PSA would cause you to start thinking about your next move. I have been looking at testosterone replacement studies thinking about that when I get off ADT, and take your pick there are just as many studies for it as there are against it so who knows? So I guess when I get done with Lupron and if I remain undetectable then we'll see.

Your PSA should be undetectable at this point.

Seeing it's MSK I imagine the SRT included the nodes, but if not there's a chance that is where the cancer is and a chance for cure.

Not sure if the newer scans would pick up your hot spots with a .36 PSA?

AK, who was your RO at MSK?did you ever ask him about why the nodes were not being radiated? I am going to get started soon, and I asked if the nodes were being radiated as part of the plan. Was told no, only the prostate bed. But have not had a chance to ask if it’s possible that the nodes are part if the problem.
Are you being treated in Manhattan if at a sattelite?

1. I’m working with Zelefsky, at MSKCC, doesn’t get much better than that
2. With that said, Before treatment I’m meeting with a panel of 3 Drs, RO, MO, and Uro, all good names, at a different hospital and it’s one of the things I’m planning to ask them
3. Zelefsky believes it’s in the prostate bed, when I asked what his level of confidence is, he said 80%. Another RO, at Cleveland Clinic, said the same thing.
4. No Scan is going to pick up anything at PSA below .1

Ask, I’m in Northeast Queens, so a bit of a hardship going to Manhattan daily. But I’m willing to do it. I will ask about the nodes and if they can be radiated after the fact.
