I've had to turn off my email link in this forum.

I've been getting various email attacks to my personal email and other accounts. The evidence isn't clear yet, but this forum is a possible source.

For now, if you want me, you'll have to contact me here.

Andrew, I was wondering, I noticed your email was turned off. I was thinking about emailing you. But decided if you turned it off, you just didn’t want anyone to contact you under the current circumstances, and I felt I should respect that, rather than asking you to contact me.

ITS, by email attacks to you mean piles of junk emails? Or emails that contain personal attacks? Hopefully the former, though both are annoying.

I have a number of throw away accounts I use. I should have rotated the one I use here a long time ago, but I haven't and don't have time tonight to create a new one.

I'll email an address to you that you can use.

I rather not say. I just rather have all contacts with HW members be public for the moment.

You'd be amazed at all the places people harvest email address and phone numbers from.

Monster.com is one of them.... I've had an account there for 17+ years... Couple years ago I made my resume visible/active to world....

I am very much shocked to see what is happening to this site lately. People like us post on this site to vent frustrations, to seek opinions on treatment options, to discuss side effects of various treatments, to learn about the complex nature of prostate cancers, and many other things.

I wish sanity will prevail and the site will help people dealing with prostate cancer.

I deleted my monster.com account years ago for just that reason. Also I once had a yahoo email address and was getting spam sent to it before I'd even starting use it.

One lesson I'd like everyone here to remember is that don't use a single email account for everything - if the bad guys compromise one email account, they can get into everything. I normally use a number of throw away accounts (mostly gmail or other free providers) with very secure passwords (8 characters, upper and lowercase, and special characters) and save my main account for people I want to hear from. I set up aggressive spam filtering on all of them and closely monitor all on-line activity for signs of abuse or compromise.

There are a number ways an email address here can be abused. The spammers can harvest it, the script kiddies can look for an address and then try a password attack on it (or use it to try and hack a common on-line account like netflix or a bank) or a bad actor from the forum can send abusive notes to you.

Over the years I've had all happen to me.

I just had a weird Gmail experience. Gmail, as you may know, goes through your emails and puts reminders on your calendar, whether you want to or not. (maybe there's a setting I can change). Anyway, I had a trip last June. Went fine. But somehow Gmail decided that I was going on that trip today, September 11. All the other info was correct, including the flight number, boarding pass number, etc. Strange and disturbing.

Yeah, gmail is getting weirder. This last summer we bought tickets for the grandkids to fly out and gmail saw the confirmation email and tried to add it to my calendar. I haven't found away to turn that off yet.

It's also been add extra lunch dates for me. A friend recently asked me what time a favorite restaurant opened. Next day gmail reminded me of a lunch appointment with said friend.

Sadly, gmail is still one of the better options out there.

Guess I am lucky. I have had the same Yahoo e-mail address for 25 years, only one I use, and have never once had a single problem.

Only complaint on my gmail ( i've had it for 12 years ) is that they change the appearance way to often and as I am a bit sllooowwwwwww when it comes to change and computer change most specifically that rattles me a bit. I do use what I consider unbreakable passwords.

looks like I've got almost turned around.

Because I blog and because of my job, I seem to be a target from time to time.

Also because of my name - turns out I have the same name as a famous skateboarder and every so often one of his fans tries to contact me.
