Actually, with respect to the OP, I would say “older” is the key.
Here’s exactly why: I’m very healthy, but I also have one of the risk factors: *10% or greater 10-year CVD risk. For someone in my age/risk bracket, the evidence of benefits of daily low-dose aspirin is greater than the harms. BUT someone healthy like me, with the SAME risk factors but in the 70+ age group, the evidence of potential benefits does NOT outweighs harms.
Heart disease is THE leading cause of death, period...more than all 100+ types of cancer combined. I applaud the PREVENTATIVE aspects that have now been nuanced...although for many it takes an up-to-date physician to properly guide you. If your doctor doesn’t discuss the USPSTF (P=Preventative) guidelines with you, a red flag should go up.
