OT: How to greatly increase your heart rate while exercising for your health

We are often told that exercise will help us in our battle against PC. I think that is what these not young guys in this video were probably doing, and they found a great aid to really get that heart rate up there.

I've lost 19 pounds in the past 9-10 weeks. i'm going to Yellowstone/Tetons for a week next week and i'll be alone. gotta be nimble

Had my MO visit this week, and he sent in his resident first to “practice” on me. This young fella absolutely scolded me for not doing strong cardio workouts five times per week. I then tried to have a discussion about the significant lengthening of my PSA doubling time, but he didn’t seem to understand, or didn’t care, what I was talking about. He then made his treatment recommendation without considering anything I said. Then my regular MO came, agreed that my PSA velocity has been decreasing, and made a treatment recommendation completely at add odds with the resident’s. The resident sat there looking butt hurt. I almost felt sorry for him. To cheer him up I said I might be willing to compromise with his cardio workout order by walking 5 days per week. Maybe I will really do it.

"19 lbs/10 weeks, sweet! (or actually I doubt sweets helped you do that) You should be more nimble! What did you do to achieve such fast results?(as if I didn't have a good guess)"

ate less -- fewer carbs. smaller portions. ate more frequently and stepped up my exercise. the diet I use is based off of weigh***chers and I don't go hungry. in fact I officially ended my diet 3 weeks ago and I see i'm down another 1.5 lbs today.

I like to eat! but my cholesterol numbers finally became concerning so I told my doctor i'd clean up my diet and retest -- and it was just time to shed some weight, again.

I've photographed brown bears in a few places but the bears in Yellowstone are scary. there was an attack already in the park on a child but the parents fended the bears off with spray. and I know you heard about the hunting guide that was attacked and killed. bear spray is a necessity especially if you are alone. i'm sure you've heard the joke about the bells

Oh yes, for sure. As a hiker and backpacker in the northern Rockies, I learned 40 years ago how to tell the difference in Grizzly crap and black bear crap. Ring a ding a ling!

My wife and I join our daughter, son-in-law, grandkids, and a bunch of their friends every July in a commercial campground in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. They're all in tents. My wife and I have a trailer.The black bears come out foraging at night - there are always some people who don't lock their coolers and trash in their vehicles. I've given my daughter bear spray to keep in the tent at night just in case. This year, my son-in-law Dave was sitting outside waiting for the fire to die down after everyone else had gone to bed. A bear came out of the dark into the campfire light. Dave said "Go away bear." and the bear turned and went away, though probably only to look for easier pickings elsewhere on the campground.

In the same campground there was a large gathering of 15 or 20 RVs in a field - an extended group who had all arrived together. They'd been kind of rowdy and annoying for a couple of days. Turns out they were also not following the common sense rule of locking up their food and trash at night. One morning they awoke to find a well-fed black bear sleeping on the carpet right in front of the door of one of the RVs.

fog season is over. there will still be days but it's over. now it's to the Tetons and Yellowstone for fall colors and rut and then back to the eastern sierra for fall colors in October. my favorite time of year!

Glacier National Park...the Park systems best kept secret...bear bells...tubular bells...sigh...memories
