Colonoscopy done - polyp removed and sent for biopsy

5 mm polyp removed during colonoscopy today and sent to the lab. Will have to wait a few days for results but anxious nonetheless. I can’t afford to have two cancers.
I know Chances for second cancers are higher but I just have to wait it out till results come out.

Waiting is the hard part.

I had polyps years ago. They turned out to be nothing.

I have colonoscopies every year and every tear they find polyps. And every year they are benign. Hang in there.

My RO recommended a colonoscopy after my RT. I balked and compromised with the poop test. I have a snarky attitude with the possibility of getting a second cancer, kind of WT(F). I think you’re doing the right thing and I’m thinking it’s going to be okay.

Lol! WT(F) is now a naughty word. I had to come back in and edit.

Most polyps are benign, but waiting for results isnt easy. Im on the 5-year plan because I have non-cancerous polyps every time. Take care and hang in there

A really honest gut doc will tell ya if pressed. They've seen enough to know the good'ens from the bad'ens.

But they have to send 'em in. Protocol.

I had my colonoscopy last month, previous one 10 years ago. Last time they found nothing, this time 2 polyps. I kept busy until the path report showed up online: both benign. Downside is they want to see me in 5 years instead of 10. Maybe by then they will have an easier clean out procedure.

Yep, I think most are benign, but now you are going through the unpleasant wait. Too bad you are not due a PSA at the same time, then you could get two things to worry about done in one session. A twofer. smile

I've had 4 colonoscopies in the last 15 years always with some polyps. Always nothing. In fact, the GI DR each time said after the procedure, it doesn't look suspicious but it has to be sent to pathology. He was always right.

Thank you !!! Yeah - biopsy result came negative - thankfully. No more probes for 10 years!!!
I was happy my Boston bowel prep score was 9 !!! Two day fast helped - couldn’t have done better.

Great news Ddyss! I am going to schedule a colonoscopy soon. Has anyone here experienced an easier prep than drinking vile liquid and having to get up at 2 in the a.m to drink again? By the way, my cynical friend said they usually find something to clip b/c they can bill more.

1. I don't recall having that kind of prep. I do remember eating a lot of jello the day before and the (not so good tasting) fluid I had to drink the prior evening and an enema several hours before the actual procedure.
2. My doc found a polyp once and provided me with an image (how nice). On subsequent colonoscopies nothing was clipped. There may be a dishonest one in the bunch, but (s)he would loose his/her license if found out.

No idea, my father died of colon cancer at 58, I’ve had colonoscopies since I was 35, lots of polyps, none cancerous so far, preparation is pain in ass (literally) but well worth it,

Vince they do , it was in three different categories with each having a max score of 3 for total max score of 9. I had myne done at northwestern digestive center in downtown chicago.
