Prostrate cancer journey

i had2016 psa was4.6, sent to urologist, working hard at freightliner mt holly nc, went to one appt, the doctor was a lot younger and sorta goofy i thought, never went back!!!! 2018 had physical psa 138, sent to urologist, he was with same group as 1st dr i saw in 2016, he said looking at his exam and findings, reccommend biopsy, had biopsy on aug 25, 2 wks later results all 12 samples cancer, aggressive, had bone scan sept 9 , 4 days later results were, it had metastized to to my bones in 7 places!!!!! Same day he started me on elegard injection, xgeva injection, we filled out paperwork for Zytiga, anyway, it was approved 3 wks ago, also 5 mg prednosone, the zytiga is 250mg pills, take 4 when get up, thenprednosone later, have had another set of injections, its 11/9 !!!!! His nursecalled today, had bloodwork monday, psa now 43 and testrone normal level !!!!!! I am very grateful for all the prayers going up for me, my union called my pcp, i am on shor term disability right now,, i have very few side effects from medicine, fatigue, hot flashes, breathing, for now, They told me congrats, thats good news, i am grateful but lots of questions????

thanx 142, yep been through worse, but this i have no control!!!! lol I apologize up front, i am not use to posting on a forum, i just email and pay bills with my banking, its only been 4 months from biopsy, bone scan, treatments injections twice then chemo meds and prednosone!!!!!! And this disability, heck i was gonna work til 65, oh well, plus only get 70% of pay!!!!!! Have been there at freightliner 25 yrs!!!! Have lots of friends, co workers prayin plus me so i am very grateful, i don,t miss the work but miss my coworkers!!!! I thank you for your reply, i didn't understand where i am supposed to visit !!!! thanx for your knowledge also, semper fi !!!!!

fighting62semperfi, Wow sounds like you have a great attitude! I so sorry to hear about you diagnosis of advanced prostate cancer but am glad you found this forum as there are so guys with a story similar to yours and they should be along soon to let you know about some of their experiences. I retired after ADT and Radiation worked a lot training people on heavy equipment and there were days I was to wiped to run the equipment myself so don't feel bad about being on disability you have worked for many years and you definitely deserve it!! You can’t look back at that first goofball URO who didn’t do his job well. Harmonal therapy can work for a long Long time - you just have to manage your mindset. If you are feeling down , talk to a doc and take some meds for depression/ anxiety - the help a ton ( I speak from experience)

Thanx to everyone who has replied, to my brother veterans, thanx for your service, !!!!!!! Called Dr office today, still waiting for blue cross to approve my Xgeva injection for bones!!!!!! The nurse said she called this am and they told her they need another 48/72 hours, she said she will call back wednesday morning, then call me!!!!! Gonna get my signature set up on my page so you can see my biopsy results and bone scan results and all meds!!!!!! Again thanx to you all, feel good about the forum, first one I have ever done since diagnosis of prostrate cancer, then bone scan, mestatsized to my bones,

Still waitin for word from dr watson nurse, she did not all today as promised, don,t kinow why they had to have pre approval from blue cross, they paid for it last month for xgeva injection, oh well, hopefully tommorow or surly by friday, it will have been 3 weeks since I saw Dr. Watson.. I am grateful to have him!!! I wish i wasen't so fatigued, I do have the hot flashes, but those are side efects I can deal with !!!!!! I walk at the hosp every day for 45 min, I just do the time, I can't stand counting laps!!!! Hope your doing well today and thanx for listening,
