I wasn’t going to post this unfortunate incident, but some of the threads I’ve read in the last few days sort of made me think it is worth noting....
I went to a memorial service. My cousins wife. One of the kindest, sweetest, most giving, most positive people I have known in my entire life. There wer 250 people at the service. about 100 of them were her students, and some of their parents, whose lives she touched.
This woman was diagnosed and treated for Ovarian cancer, 5 years ago. One of the deadliest cancers one can get. She was one of the lucky ones, she never recurred after initial treatment. 5 years. Luckily, she really squeezed life for every joy she could over the last 5 years. Hiking in the Amazon, River Cruises in Europe, active in and a pillar of her community, and loving her large family.
So last week, late in the day, she had an upset stomach. She figured it was something she ate for lunch. She went to bed early. And never woke up. 68 years old. My cousin didn’t want an autopsy, so we will never know what it was. But it had nothing to do with her Ovarian Cancer.
What an example!. She never (other than at test time) wasted a day worrying what might happen if her cancer came back. She just enjoyed every day.
A woman many of us can learn from.
I just felt it might be worth getting that out. Maybe it will give perspective to some of us worry warts,
