I have been taking a break from the forum for the last three months. After 8 months focused on research and then treatment, I needed a break. I looked at the time between the end of my treatments and first post treatment PSA test as a vacation from PC. No decisions to make and no sense worrying about what you can't control.... I finished my treatments on October 31st and the 28 external radiation treatments were relatively easy with just some minor fatigue at times. The two HDR treatments (one week apart) were invasive and each took a few days to bounce back from. I had significant burning for a day or two after each HDR but went away quickly. On the last day of radiation, I went straight to the golf course and had my first "hole in one"... I hope that was a good omen... I have enjoyed the last three months and did a good job of putting PC out of my mind. I was looking forward to my first post treatment PSA. I was not really nervous because it is just the first data point and until you have multiple tests and see the trend, it is hard to know if your treatment was successful. I got the results yesterday and my PSA dropped from 5.9 to .89. I plan on enjoying the next three months and then check the next data point. If any of you are still in the treatment decision process and would like to discuss my experience with combo external radiation and HDR, I would be happy to discuss with you. regards Mike
