Late Onset Incontinence

"Stress incontinence" is something that many of us have to contend with as we age, even without prostate surgery. Additionally, radiation causes nerve damage that may not show up for years.

I continue to do Keegles as that can help keep the involved muscles tighter. I also continue to take my docs advice to urinate when I have the opportunity, even if I don't feel a need (yet). I keep scheduled pit stops for my daily runs. I still have some stress incontinence, when I sneeze or cough hard I sometimes leak a drop or 2. That is a likely reason that standard mens briefs have a double layer of cotton in the front - makes a couple of drops insignificant. My Keegles and scheduling minimize the issue for me.

If you put in your best effort and still get worse, it could well be another issue and you should get it checked out.

Mattam, I do have a chemical recurrence that was detected in 2015 or thereabouts and the timing of the testing makes it look like the number is all over the place. At first my oncologist was treating with Casodex, then in the last two years, Lupron injections have been my treatment. The good news is the Lupron injections took my PSA down to undetected. I don’t need to tell you the bad news.
I am currently on a Lupron vacation, but I predict that my PSA will reach a number that I’m not comfortable with in the next six months. At my last blood test, it was 1.7. I predict that next time it will be over four. My oncologist recommends restarting treatment when it reaches ten. Wish me luck.
