I have been off Lupron and Zytiga for 6 months. My PSA January 3 was less than 0.01 Today’s blood draw was 0.06. Okay... not bad but still kind of bums me out. I will get another test in a month to check velocity. Bound to go up a little bit right. I mean I still have a prostate

Todd, considering your story, pretty negligible PSA. Hang in there, hopefully really low velocity and you will stay off meds for a long time.

I shouldn’t be whining but I am and that is just the way it is. I am also drinking a little. I am not going to lie. I wanna be that guy. You know.... the guy that never has to go back on treatment and leaves the doctors scratching their noggins. I probably am that guy already but I have not seen a PSA rise in 6 years. I am not use to it.

The fact that you still have your prostate - not even radiated - it puzzles me that your PSA has gone as low as it has. Brain fog Edit: As your T rises I think you would expect some increase in PSA from your prostate cells, right?🙂

Not bad, brother. A little up, but still very little. Let’s see if it settles in at that level,for the next 45 years at that level. Still with an unadulterated prostate so you have to expect some PSA.

Hang in. Could be nothing with a beaten up but still present prostate. You have earned a few drinks but because you have mentioned it you know you need to control it, not let it control you.

Don't fret the small things and 0.06 is definitely..a small thing. That's barely detectable, in your case I would boldly say that's negligible. That's 99.94 percent less than 1.00 !!! Or probably even less than that if you look at it exponentially. !!. So chin up, get you your favorite drink and celebrate with Mandy. You are doing excellent my Brother.! You doctor is probably more worried about your cholesterol than your dumb ol psa right now anyway.
Yes treatment sucks, but don't you still want to keep ahead of me with # of undetectables?Just kidding about that . Your amazing journey continues. Hope your shoulder neck , knees and back are hanging tough and pain is easing. Just remember, 13 or more years ago, 'could you only imagine' that you would be getting this old,to have all these issues?. You are doing great , just keep the Faith.

I certainly do add a big Amen to all of the positive comments already made.

As the consensus is saying, it's too early to assume the worst. Give it some time, and only that will provide a clue as to whether that .06 really is a concern, or just a PSA bogeyman.

Hah! "PSA bogeyman!" Maybe that's a term we should use more often around here, as it's certainly going to apply in a good many cases, and now hopefully in yours!

On a more practical note, consider googling

cancer recurrence fear

which brings up a bunch of good, reassuring articles, such as

(only one of a number that looked good, there were others). If you have the time, do this, and it might just help.

Hey Todd - I can really appreciate your concern at an uptick, however small. It's quite disconcerting. Even though you kind of know it's possible, after such a long run of good numbers you begin to expect that to continue. If it changes, it can be upsetting.

You and I both still have a prostate, so there's an expectation of PSA production at some level if we have testosterone in our system. As another asked, do you know your testosterone level? You may have missed my, well, freak out a couple years ago as my PSA went up rapidly when my testosterone recovered from ADT. It did level off, though well above where I'd hoped it would.

You've had a remarkable run, surely a head-scratcher for any doctor paying attention. You begin to expect that it will continue forever, and indeed it may still be fine.

This slow-motion marathon just needs so much patience. My only suggestion would be to simply monitor the PSA and watch for a trend. It's not so much the absolute number as the trend that matters. But it will take a couple more readings to be able to calculate that, and even then it's still not precise.

It's natural to be concerned.

Yeah, I'm sure you are fine with it, more like a minor irritant at this point. You have now joined me at .06(I've been at that point for a bit over a year, now 5 1/2 years out. But with a prostate, and off of the drugs, as you said I think- yours is most likely going to go up, right? With a prostate, don't you pretty well have to make some PSA, regardless of what is going on with the PC? That is another thing that has made your < readings so darn amazing, along with your history.

Oh well, you know about all of that better than I do, I'm just sort of guessing. And I realize you are not really worried, rather just keeping us posted.

Since you still have a prostate, how about the standard questions.
I don't expect you to answer us, just ask yourself.

Did you have sex before the test?
Did you ride a bicycle before the test?
Strenuous exercise ..........?
Infection............?

Having some PSA is okay if you still have a prostate but other factors may be the cause of the rise. Let's hope so!

I would think that if you have been on a treatment holiday for 6 months and your testosterone has risen to a fair level, with a PSA of 0.06, you might just be cured. While rare, Stage 4 cancers can simply disappear. There is a fair amount of research on this process and its called "Spontaneous Regression". Nobody knows why it happens.

You know your emphasis on your wants rather than your gifts in this situation are in conflict Todd...there is nothing wrong with wants...but when they trump haves...it scorches...celebrate what you have...pray for what you want...and be still...you know this...rationalizations do not work with faith...when the rubber hits the road is when a mans mettle lights...do not be deceived...you have come too far for that...consider this a small nudge back to the path that got you where you are...this is for Todd...and reassurance to others here who may be slip sliding and need a nudge...possibly a slap back on course... PS...bigly..it is realization...not recognition...that heals...the rest is puff...vaper...

Hmmm,
25 miles on a bike on Saturday and 12 more on Sunday. I expect psa to rise. I did not participate I carnal activities this weekend but only because I was busy working on the truck, yard, and house. We did a couple tomes last week 😊. Thank all of You for the encouragement. Leaving D.C. and we are taxiing to the runway. There is no place like home no place like home. If only I had a pair of ruby sneakers
