There is a well know news anchor in the Twin Cities that has a great story of beating cancer twice.
http://www.startribune.com/kare-11-s-randy-shaver-learns-he-s-cancer-free-a-second-time/509481332/I had really mixed feelings when I saw his announcement on TV. He is seeing some of the same doctors that I have been involved with and was treated in a similar time frame.
I am really happy for him but not really sure how someone gets the “you beat it” label from a doctor at 9 months post diagnosis. Maybe I am too jaded from studying PCa for 9 months myself on this journey but it sure seems with almost every cancer you are not out of the woods until a lot of time has passed. I do not doubt that his 3 or 6 month PSA is fairly low after ADT and radiation but it seems premature to announce being cured to the whole world.
He is a public figure who kept everyone aware of his journeys so he probably had to bring it to a conclusion for his followers. Am I just too critical of someone who is too happy?
