Umm... Maybe I am missing something. The answer to both questions is yes. A lie is only a lie when, and to the extent that, the accused lair knows it's a lie. An unintentional lie is simply a mistake. There are, of course, gradations but deliberate intent remains the touchstone to separate lies from error.
I was actually going to sit this thread out. It's a complicated topic and anything I had to say would be... complicated, and would satisfy no one, least of all me. The public perception of prostate cancer is at the same time too dismissive and excessively dire. But, for whatever reason, Logo called me out so I popped in to say hello and offer my overpriced two cent's worth.
