The foundation of the intellectual coping strategy is to learn as much as you can about a problem, consider all of the options that you have learned and then to make the best decision you can as to how to proceed.
Prostate cancer can and will cheerfully kill you. The treatments for prostate cancer have some very bad side effects - especially when they are combined. The choice then becomes one of 'lesser evils'. However, the treatment side effects can often be ameliorated with counter- measures whereas the cancer on its own...not so much.
