High PSA, Wait and See

First time to post, September 2017 PSA was 5.4, test results came back on today’s draw and it is 18.9, next appointment will be Friday, December 20 to see what’s going on.
Age is 64, I have an enlarged prostate for the last three years and I am currently on Cipro for UTI.
From what I’ve been reading this is going to be a wait-and-see game.

What have been the results of the DRE? Have you used Avodart or Proscar? I assume you have not had a biopsy. That is very high PSA and the reason needs to be determined.

Yes, it's a waiting game - that can drive you crazy. Likely your PSA is due to BPH and the UTI - the infection alone can raise PSA by a lot. Best to finish the cipro and retest in a few weeks.

Likely your PSA will drop and if it does then you'll have a good indication that nothing really bad is going on.
