Although my stats suggested I was a perfect AS candidate I chose to be treated. My biopsy was pretty easy; however, the risk of sepsis (~3 to 7%) with each additional biopsy had me more fearful of potentially losing one or more of my three joint replacements than the risks of side effects from the RT. When I weighed the risks of sepsis against the risks of RT it was an easy personal decision. For some guys AS is a great option. As a side note my Urologist was ready to schedule me for surgery on our first sit down following diagnosis. So glad I found this site.
