? On finding it if I need to a new Uro

Ok I admit I lurk the site and am always nervous when my yearly psa is due
Last year it was 1.6
I don’t have pc ... that I know of
60 yrs old with 55 gr prostate...
Always had my GP do the blood work but had a local Uro do the DRE and urine etc,,,
Just found out he passed away unexpected Sunday !
The one thing I likes about this guy is he was honest !
He told me that he held off going into the larger practice because these guys pushed biopsies because there is $$$$$ in them.
He preferred to do a biopsy only when he felt it was needed...
So do I just use my GP now for the blood work and the Dre and only if something looks out of line go to another Uro ?
How do I find another honest one ?
My psa has been like 1.01,1.14,1,6, .99 etc
My Uro said with the size of my gland he is surprised it’s not much higher...
So it’s decision time

Well, you could find a new Uro or just have your PCP handle the PSA and DRE. With your numbers, which don't seem to be concerning at your age, it doesn't matter much. A Uro likely would be better skilled at interpreting a DRE.

Island I like your thinking ! Not sure how you know that but I pray you are correct .,,
I always dread the PSA test ... one guy on here told me to wait 10’yrs and test again ,..
Man I wish that were true...

Your GP should be fine for PSA and DRE at such low PSA’s for your age with a larger prostate. If you are having any urinary issues then the urologist is the person you should see. Ask your GP for referrals when that time comes or ask others you know. If you ever do get PCa then you can get more serious about the doctors you see for specialty expertise.

I think just go to your GP for PSA and DRE until something indicates that you need to see a uro.

Yes. With your history and unless you have a trend or other issues I doubt you need a urologist.

Thx guys ! I had the blood draw for psa today ,,, waiting for results ... I’m hoping to not see a rise ... wishful thinking ...
