Long time no talk to.
I have been deemed essential by my glorious governor as has my sweet wife. We go to work each and every day among the masses. I am a Lubrication tech/ pipe fitter at a pulp and paper manufacturing facility that employs roughly 1200 people. My wife is a nurse. We go to work but that is all we do. The boat sits in the garage. The camper sits in the shop. The snowmobiles ( well the snow is gone so who cares) We got back from Kona just as the $?!@ hit the fan. We got to go to Home Depot last week. Also went grocery shopping. Crazy people have bought out flour, yeast, toilet paper, paper towels and now the trend has moved to meat. I am over it. I am ready for life to be normal but guess what kids...... this is the new normal.
I miss my mom and my band mates. I miss my kids and my grand babies. I miss going out and doing stuff. The economy is going down the toilet. It is only a matter of time. It won’t be back anytime soon. On a positive note enter sarcasm:.... seeing as how this disease is more fatal for us older sicker population the social security burden is being drastically reduced. There will be no vaccine for a year no miracle treatments. Herd immunity is our
Best bet for the near future. If we allow business as usual to spring forward we are in for a hard fall. Maybe we could just freeze everything. No bill paying. No foreclosures no collection agency banging on the door. Just stop. Everybody gets free food and necessities. Farmers and ranchers and truckers and all the
Essentials continue to do what we do. If we die
We die. Gotta die of something. We are expendable.
The sky is bluer. The air is cleaner. The stars are brighter. It is quieter. No constant jets flying overhead. Perhaps the world needs a pause. Perhaps humanity needs a pause. Maybe we will come to appreciate simpler things. I don’t know. I know those who called it a hoax have a lot of crow in their pie hole.
Things are going to change. This is the tip of the berg. I remember when I lost my home in 2003. It was happening everywhere but nobody really noticed except for those it was happening to. The writing was on the wall for what was coming but nobody could see it until it was too late and the economy crashed. That was mild compared to what this could do. The world is so screwed right now. All we need is civil unrest and a few wars to add to the mix of plague pestilence and a looming famine and the
4 horseman will be at our front door.
I hope for the best. I fear the worst. As Bocephus said so many years ago. “ we can skin a buck we can run a trot line and a country boy can survive.” I feel bad for city folk stuck in a concrete prison people above and below. They gonna be the ones who have it bad.

I disagree. Economies are like plants. You have to water them. If you leave them dry for a while, then water them, they will come back. If you leave them dry for too long. . . they don't come back. I don't think any of these scientists at CDC or any such organization have the qualifications to assess how long we can shut down our economy before major segments of it wither and die. That is why we should not place all of our confidence in the scientists without also considering the economists' input.

What point is there in being alive if all you have left to do is watch the tumbleweeds roll down main street?

It’s like being a teenager all over again: cheap gas and I’m grounded.

Sky - Did you ask them about your wife?

Get her scheduled for June then if possible. My wife would cry at times before surgery and the hip replacement surgery pain quickly gave way to feeling a lot better than before. It was quite amazing for those in a lot of daily pain and I was impressed with the results. She was mad at herself that she waited for so long before going with surgery after trying everything else for years. Hope it works out soon for her.

Thanks guys for all the well wishes and yeppers got another undetectable psa so was elated over that. They moved me to 6 month testing. It was interesting they are not using any echeck-in right now, no magazines around the lobbies, every other chair is blocked off, no puzzle tables, the cafe was open but between construction and maintaining social distancing there was not much places to sit. The one good thing there was lots of parking! 😊 Anybody that has tried to park at the Damon or Graham ramps at 10 in the morning know what I'm talking about. All of the staff were very happy to be starting to see patients again. When I had my blood work the technician said that the labs were one of the most severe hit parts of the hospital. Just one testing lab does from 1,000 to 1,200 blood draws a day and they have several. There were about 5 people getting blood drawn when I was there. He told me that he thought there were couple hundred people laid off in the labs. Now just waiting to teleconference with the heart doctor tomorrow. MUMBO, I will have to say that the traffic was considerably less on 35E but oh my god the crazy drivers much worse than before!! The kid was saying there was some song out about the huge number of people that have been clocked going over 100 mph around the cities. I saw more highway patrol from north of Duluth to Rochester than I have ever seen in 40 plus years. Let's hope as things start to slowly wind up people will use caution in their driving we sure don't need anymore deaths!

I'd bet a zillion bucks any of the now 60k dead would love to watch tumbleweeds roll down main street again.

As has been mentioned previously more than once, the mods have agreed to loosen up on the rules somewhat. But as has also been mentioned , when comments degenerate into personal attacks, that’s when it’s over the line.
For that reason, I think it’s time this thread ends.

Paxton no, we are not going to agree to disagree. Sorry. Not happening. I may be in remission from cancer, like so many of us here, but I am not ever going to compromise on this virus, or with anyone who wants to reopen, and infect those of us who are not infected.

Those people deserve it, they often don’t get enough respect, even when things are “normal”
