COVID 19 AND FIRMAGON

"By temporarily lowering male hormone levels (using Firmagon), researchers believe they can reduce the production of TMPRSS2 in lung tissue and thus prevent the virus from penetrating lung cells. Hormone levels will return to normal at the end of treatment."

There is irony here someplace. I have a PET scan scheduled in two weeks and soon afterward will probably need to start a new round of ADT. I was on Degarelix (Firmagon) for a year and have now been on break for a year. I had almost no SEs from Degarelix, so even though it requires monthly shots my first choice would be to go back on Degarelix rather than a 3-month or 6-month Lupron shot. But given the added risk due to COVID-19 of monthly trips to the hospital for a Degarelix shot I've been wondering if I should instead request Lupron. So maybe the monthly trips for shots isn't such a bad idea after all.
