Wow, how things have changed from June 1 to June 11. June 1st was my 4th round of Taxotere, smooth and easy like the first three, days 2, 3, and the morning of day 4 I was feeling great until a 11:30 voiding that was a red stream of bloody urine, a quick call to my urologists switchboard asking for an urgent callback. The next voiding was 4 minutes of bloody drips and trickles - now officially freaked out - jump in pickup and 80 mph to urologist's hospital E.R. 4 1/2 hours of bleeding, ER did blood and urine labs, didn't contact urologist till after 2 hours of reminders, she also happened to be on the phone with Dr. Kwon about my case. My CT Urogram done on May 22 was not read and reported until June 7.
The miserable; The next days were a miserable emotional wreck along with physical weakness, it was also days 5,6, and 7, 2 of the worst post chemo days, also had seen a minor increase in bleeding days 4-8 of chemo #3.
The great; June 8 routine labs showed low WBC like always, but PSA was <.01 down from 6.16 on 3-9, total testosterone <10 and free Testosterone <1. Got a 3 month Eligard shot instead of Lupron like on the 1st shot.
The good; Added an occasional dry cough the past days to all the other chemo side effects that match the Covid symptoms, so on June 11 my M.O. said lets be safe and do a Covid test. I opted for the rapid test done at 4:15 by 4:45 had results NEGATIVE Yes. Q-tip up nostrils left more of a tickle feeling and wanting to sneeze.
Also found out on June 4th that my urologist of 4 years will stop seeing patients on June 19 and be leaving, very saddened, she was great. l was able to get in on June 11 for a new patient intake at the competing hospital, spent 1 1/2 hours with RN and CNP, left feeling comfortable with new providers.
Trying to schedule return visit to Mayo Clinic in late July to repeat scans to check on Mets and also a hematuria consult. The last couple days are better, still weak, slow, tired , and frustrated.
