Hello Bellydonna From Canada,
I have some common threads in my treatment history, shown below, including ZOLADEX injections, and 45 radiation treatments.
When I was diagnosed, my PSA was climbing over 100, and rapidly rising.
That was 7 years ago!
NO ONE closed a door on me. No one.
Instead, we talked about TREATMENTS.
Proactive, timely, step-by-step, TREATMENTS!
It sounds like your case has some complexities, to be sure.
My humble thoughts --- I think you need to assemble a more cohesive, forward looking, proactive, medical TEAM.
From your post, it's evident that you don't have a team yet. I can tell from your post that you are seeking more.
You need an expert oncologist with experience ... with a VISION of future possibilities, and a treatment plan.
Time to seek out additional expertise ... you deserve that.
I think you need a different oncologist, who can team up with the doctor you like.
My original urologist could only focus on ADT shots, after I was diagnosed. I added an oncologist, and he opened MANY DOORS to me.
From there, I also went to Mayo Clinic for more precise scans. My doctor there consults with my local oncologist here. I truly have a TEAM formed. I am part of that team. This IS my wish for you.
You are simply ONE appointment away from finding a new oncologist who looks at your case with new eyes, and offers more treatment ideas.
Those could include things like ZYTIGA, XTANDI, genetic testing, and chemotherapy, IF it suits your case.
None of those options have even been discussed or offered to you. That's a concern I have, after reading your post.
I think you need a new quarterback on your team. Stick with the doctor you like, but add a positive & proactive & innovative new team player to your team. You have much to gain, by taking this one step.
There's a lot more treatment options out there for you, I believe. You can see some things that have helped me, in my case, shown below my signature.
Each case is different, but I believe there's better answers, additional help, and more proactive treatments waiting for you out there.
Those things become possible, when you get the right doctors on your team.
Every time I see my doctor, we are always looking at what steps are needed to maintain my health goals. It's a constant dialogue.
Be your own advocate. Do the research, make some calls, get an initial consultation booked. Seek out that needed additional expertise.
I truly believe there's more HELP and HOPE and TREATMENT OPTIONS waiting for you!
Keep us posted ~ let us know how you're faring, with case updates.
Wanting the very, very BEST for you, going forward,
