26 months later -- still blood in uring & semen

Due to elevated PSA levels (highest 5.4) I had a biopsy performed 26 months ago. Results: No Cancer (Yea!) However, the next day I had high fever/chills from a drug resistant infection, went to ER, went into septic shock, ICU 4 days and nearly died. But still: 20 samples and No Cancer.

I had obvious bleeding in my urine and semen for months. In my semen for a much longer time that just in the urine. Finally after 22 months it had appeared to have finally ceased. Today, 26 months since the biopsy, I noticed blood in my urine today (and it actually could be that it was in semen released during urination after having had an erection).

Additionally, since the biopsy I have lousy control when I need to urinate. As an old guy (60s) there had been a matter of urgency before the biopsy, but that meant like I needed to get off at the next exit in 10 miles or so. Now it's the ONE MINUTE WARNING!

I also have issue with leakage of semen/ejaculate. Erections are fine (or at least adequate) but there is early leakage (according to my wife during oral foreplay) and during climax it just kind of runs out. No noticeable contractions (squirts) which greatly diminishes the pleasurable sensations that one usually has.

But, No Cancer, or so they said. Am I just supposed to be grateful that I'm not dealing with cancer (as are most men here)? Or is there more that I can hope for in way of recovery? That seems doubtful after this much time has passed.

I had some similar issues between biopsy and surgery, did not go as well as I expected with more blood than one should ever see. I think it is very possible that permanent damage can occur as a result of a biopsy but probably not common. Your complications make it more possible I suppose.

I've had 6 or 7 biopsies, including a saturation biopsy which takes over 30 samples. Blood in urine: a week or two at the most. Blood in semen, 3-4 months. I'd go to another doctor and get a second opinion.

I agree with the others who suggest getting an opinion from a different doctor. This is definitely NOT normal and it's disappointing that your doctor has not taken more steps to discover what's going on.

The doc did do the scope into the bladder. Embarrassing? By this point in time, I'd say I no longer give a thought to "modesty". Everything there was said to be clear. I thought I had finally gotten past the bleeding until this week noticing it again. I'm pretty confident the blood is in the semen as when I see it while urinating it's because of having had an erection and there has been some seepage that remained in the urethra. New doc visit is next week. Different practice. Different hospital group.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I haven't been greatly concerned about it and not really having any distress over it. It just doesn't seem right. Blood is usually in indication that something is not right.

Didn't mention it before, but since all this has been going on, I have absolutely no libido. Yes, I'm in my 60s but I'm not dead (but that part of me seems to be). Getting old is not for sissies.
