Heading back to see the surgeon again

Just a little background first. I had brachytherapy seed implants two months ago. I have had pain off and on since the surgery. For the past week my pelvic pain had been getting worse each day. Now I feel as if I have prostatitis. Prior to surgery I had a few bouts of prostatitis here and there.

At my one month follow up I explained to the surgeon the pain I was having and he said I should just push through it as it should be better in a month. A month has come and gone and now I feel worse. I will be calling his office first thing in the morning. I have never had any luck with meds in past bouts of prostatitis. Urine cultures always come back negative for any bacteria. It can sometimes take two months for the pain to go away. In this world of modern medicine you would think they could do something.

Really I guess I should be scoped to see what everything looks like. Could be my bladder causing all this--who knows.

Any advice would be great. Also anyone have any idea how to lessen the pain? I take Uribe and Toradol daily. Thanks for any help

I called the surgeon this morning and they promised to get back to me by 5pm. I have BCBS of NC so I guess its ok insurance. Basically its 80-20. I always meet my deductible each year because of other issues.

The pelvic pain is all over the place. One minute its mild and may stay mild for five hours then it will ramp up to almost what a kidney stone feels like. I have passed so many of them I have lost count. I wake in the morning and feel ok for a few hours then the pain comes right back.

I feel I have a good urologist/surgeon and really my whole cancer team is good. I guess I am just one of the unlucky ones who have issues after surgery. I was reading a medical study at UCLA which stated men who have brachytherapy sometimes have lifetime pain. I hope this isn't me.

5pm came and went without anyone from the surgeons office calling me. Big surprise there!! I am sure they will say because of Covid they are under staffed or offer some other excuse.

I will get up tomorrow and beat on the door until someone calls back.

I was thinking lately about how many urology issues I have had in the past. I have passed over a dozen stones in my life. I have had recurrent prostatitis a number of times also. These usually least two to three months. Now the grand prize is having cancer. Life is good isn't it?

Don't worry, I will get through this with time.
