I never worried about my health and did not do check-ups. My first ever PSA test at age 63 came back as 10.6.
The Uro said after the DRE, "Don't worry, there is a 50% chance that it's not cancer."
The biopsy result was Gl 7 (3+4), 12 of 16 pos. The Uro said, "Don't worry, surgery has a 90% chance of curing you."
After surgery, the Uro said, "Don't worry, with your favorable pathology report you should remain cancer free."
Two years later, PSA was 0.1. "Don't worry," said the Uro, "in my long experience there have been a lot of patients
where PSA stayed at 0.1 for a many years."
Four months later PSA was 0.2. The RO said "Don't worry, radiation has a good chance of eliminating the cancer."
This was followed by 4 months of Lupron and 40 IMRT sessions. Nine months later, PSA was 0.1. "Don't worry,"
said the RO, "it may go lower."
Three months later, PSA was undetectable. I did not even ask the doc about the chances of the cancer coming back. I know what the answer would be.
