Decision Simplified

I just finished my consult w/Dr. Partin, Urologist-Surgeon at JH. I had only gotten in about 10 minutes of the 30 he had to answer my questions when he declared that he would recommend against surgery for me and that I should pursue RT, saying that that is what he would do if it were him. I must admit, that was not how I expected the consult to go.

His reluctance was due to the fact that I also have a rare genetic disorder called "Brugada Syndrome" which will often first manifest itself with Sudden Cardiac Arrest. I guess he did not want to deal with that while I was on the table. Who knew? Mind you, I have had surgery (a laparoscopic triple hernia repair and 2 colonoscopies) and haven't died yet, but you never know.

Well, Dr. Partin is one of the best, and if he has that level of concern for you...then listen! Go see the RO's--make sure you see several who specialize in all the different flavors.

Anyone that thinks radical prostatectomy is easy is a fool. It is one of the most difficult and delicate surgeries. There is an old joke that brain surgeons feel they are lucky since they don’t have to remove prostates.

Is this the Dr. Partin of the well known "Partin Tables"?
