Many in the USA and at this forum are burning with anger, blaming the current spike on unvaccinated people. But I ask again, what is going on in in almost completely vaxed Scotland and Israel, where there is a crisis at least equal to ours? I don't think they can realistically blame their spike on the unvaxed, can they? So, why are they having such a spike despite their super high rate of vaxing? Logo, I would particularly love to read your thoughts on this question!
Also, something that has been confusing me during our new spike: why have the people who- during the year+ when no vaccine was available- who had managed not to get Covid- suddenly been dropping like flies coinciding with the vaccination of millions?
For that matter, why have there been so many breakthrough cases among people who managed to avoid the original virus for about
a year, without the benefits of vaccination? Logo, I know you like to take shots at me by saying I am throwing out unsubstantiated facts when I said there have been a lot of breakthroughs among vaccinated people. But at least 2 already among the relatively small numbers of regular posters at this forum, plus I'm fairly sure we all know vaxed folks who have broken thru, I talked to several at church this very morning. So that seems like a fair number to me, not to you? Anyway, Scotland and Israel would beg to differ with you, since virtually ALL of their new cases are breakthroughs among the vaxed. Your thoughts on that, Logo?
Now as to why the spikes and breakthroughs, I realize some are going to say it is those evil unvaxed, because they caused the Delta strain. But realistically, didn't that strain already exist somewhere in the world before many people could even get vaxed, even if ALL were willing to do so? In fact, aren't their other variants already on their way to us?
Now here is a wild thought, even though I suppose unlikely: did we select for the Delta and other variants when we mass inoculated for the Alpha? You know, like we do with antibiotic resistant bacteria? Could that happen? And since the evidence is clear that the vaccinated can get Covid(whether symptomatic or no symptoms) and can spread it just as easily as the unvaxed(Y'all have read that in the headlines, haven't you? Or must I find a link?), is it possible that it is the vaccinated giving the unvaxed some of their infections? Is that possible?
Oh boy, after this post, I see my popularity at this site skyrocketing up from it's already lofty heights! I bet it will spike to new heights at a faster rise than new cases in Scotland! ;)

There were 82 people in intensive care and 977 in hospital, more than double the number of a fortnight ago.
Prof Leitch told BBC Scotland's Drivetime programme that almost 1,000 people were in hospital being harmed by the disease and that was a "real concern".
Health boards covering the Highlands, Grampian and Fife are the latest to warn of severe pressure on their services. ...............There is so little give in the system that most health boards have had to cancel all but emergency and urgent care......"
