Steve, Thanks for bringing this PCa Off-Topic up. I think it's an important one for PCa patients because we're all of an age to weigh in on this topic. There are some clear guidelines for those who have had a heart attack or have heart disease taking aspirin to prevent a heart attack. I've read A LOT in medical literature (not the popular press) about
this and the pros and cons. I've even contacted an expert on the subject at Cleveland Clinic Heart Institute. As someone suggested, this should be discussed with one's physician or, better yet, a cardiologist to sort out an individual recommendation.
For purposes of full disclosure, at age 73 I take a daily baby aspirin due to coronary artery disease. I also follow the Healthy 7 Habits recommended by the American Heart Association and have decided, based on my doctor's advice, to take a statin to lower my LDL cholesterol below <70 mg/dL . I may still have a heart attack, but the chances are excellent that I'll survive it.
