Referral of Urologist/Surgeon at Siteman St Louis

I'm looking for a referral to a uro at Siteman Cancer Center in St Louis. The South County office is closer but I'm not opposed to making the trip to the Central West End Main Campus either.

At this point, I'm just seeking another opinion on the MRI results I received. Next step is another biopsy, so I'm not sure that I need any specific surgeon at this point. My doc at St Louis Univ has suggested a Fusion MRI Biopsy but cannot schedule it until mid-January (which seems like forever). Additionally, when I began reading this board about 4 years ago, I think I saw a consensus that Siteman is THE PLACE to seek treatment (esp surgery) in St Louis. With my earlier biopsy samples being all negative, I thought I had skirted all this. Now, that may not be the case.

I had my surgery at the downtown BJC main towers, Dr. Figenshau did the surgery, and I've had great results. It was 6 1/2 years ago, so he may be retired by now.

I had a good experience there from everyone I encountered.

I just switched to Siteman myself. My new Urologist is Dr Kim at Barnes Jewish West County. Young guy. Really like a recommend him. My oncologist is dr Brenneman. REALLY like him. He explains things in great detail to where I can understand it. I highly recommend both. They are both at West County. Plenty of parking. I just completed my 3rd session and have 25 more. This is my second round of radiation. First round was done in Springfield Ill. I went to Siteman for a 2nd opinion.

The Siteman scheduler just got back to me yesterday. The first appointment I could get was at BJC West County with Dr Chris Arett. Since at this point I don't know if I need an oncologist or a surgeon, I took the earliest appt to get my foot in the door at Siteman and hopefully will not have to wait 6 weeks for the biopsy procedure.

You are typically in the domain of the urologist for a biopsy. Depending on what is found may require additional scans. The oncologist usually does not get involved until cancer is established so no hurry there. You are doing the right thing. If cancer is found, you will probably want to see a radiation oncologist to discuss treatment options in addition to surgery that will be presented by Dr. Aren’t I assume. Hope all goes well at your visit and subsequent biopsy.
