I was trying to find my original biopsy report, but could not find it on my computer. From my signature, it was 2 of 12 cores G6, 5%
Here are the results of my second biopsy, which was my first at Vanderbilt.
Diagnosis
1) PROSTATE, LEFT APEX, BIOPSY:
- BENIGN PROSTATIC TISSUE.
2) PROSTATE, LEFT MID, BIOPSY:
- BENIGN PROSTATIC TISSUE.
3) PROSTATE, LEFT BASE, BIOPSY:
- BENIGN PROSTATIC TISSUE.
4) PROSTATE, RIGHT APEX, BIOPSY:
PROSTATIC ADENOCARCINOMA, GLEASON SCORE 3 + 3 = 6 (GRADE GROUP 1), INVOLVING 10% OF 1/2 CORES.
5) PROSTATE, RIGHT MID, BIOPSY:
- BENIGN PROSTATIC TISSUE.
6) PROSTATE, RIGHT BASE, BIOPSY:
- BENIGN PROSTATIC TISSUE.
Here are the results of the biopsy done Monday afternoon. Biopsy number 3, done at Vanderbilt.
Diagnosis
1) PROSTATE, RIGHT APEX, BIOPSY:
- Benign prostatic tissue.
2) PROSTATE, RIGHT MID, BIOPSY:
- Prostatic adenocarcinoma, Gleason score 3 + 3 = 6 (grade group 1), involving 1/2 cores (35%).
3) PROSTATE, RIGHT BASE, BIOPSY:
- Prostatic adenocarcinoma, Gleason score 3 + 3 = 6 (grade group 1), involving 1/2 cores (30%).
4) PROSTATE, LEFT APEX, BIOPSY:
- Benign prostatic tissue.
5) PROSTATE, LEFT MID, BIOPSY:
- Benign prostatic tissue.
6) PROSTATE, LEFT BASE, BIOPSY:
- Benign prostatic tissue.
7) PROSTATE, ROI #1 RIGHT MID TO BASE TRANSITION, BIOPSY:
- Prostatic adenocarcinoma, Gleason score 3 + 3 = 6 (grade group 1), involving 15% of total tissue.
#7 was the regional of interest (ROI) that showed up on the MRI. They did 3 cores there.
Overall my Gleason has not changed, but it looks to me like there is quite a bit more volume. The Dr. told me I was still very much a candidate for AS if that is what I wanted to do. We talked about the sanity issue during our pre and post biopsy conversations.
He stated I could continue and do another PSA in 3 months and see what it shows, or he would set up an appointment with Dr. Smith if that is what I wanted. I told him I would like the appointment to see his opinion.
Is 30 and 35% a number that is getting high? It seems a lot high to me considering I started at 5%.
It does look like it is all in the same location as before. I suppose it is just more area that 2 years ago.
Not that I need to ask, but opinions are welcome as always.
Thanks in advance,
Larry
