Surgery was 11/5, so I'm in my 4th week post-op. Things are going really well. Almost no incontinence. I wear something at night, just for peace of mind, but it doesn't seem to be necessary. I had been quietly depressed at the prospect of having to regain my continence, but I haven't had many issues at all. I attribute this to the skill of the surgeon (and maybe my overall good health, as well).
I only took one week off from work. However, I work from home and my work is mainly phone, computer and zoom. Nothing strenuous. I'm continuing to be very careful not to life anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Not sure how long I'm supposed to keep that up, but I imagine another few weeks. Everything seems to be healing well.
For what it's worth, Debra convinced me to go on a vegan diet a couple months before the surgery. This change was much easier than I expected, and i feel much healthier as a result.
Thanks to all members of the forum who were so knowledgeable and helpful when I was in the thick of it. You guys are great.
Funny story: as you know Debralyn has become an expert in all things related to prostate cancer and the various treatments. When I went in for my 2-week follow-up with the surgeon. She peppered him with technical questions. I didn't know most of the acronyms she was using, but she had a notebook on her lap with everything written down. After about half a dozen questions, she asked the doctor if she could ask a couple more. "Sure," he said. "You could teach my residents something." Meaning, I wish they asked such sharp, detailed questions.
That's my wife!
