Hello, Jeff & Stephanie ----
Have been thinking of you both, each day.
I think it's important to factor in the understanding that the CARBOPLATIN & CABAZITAXEL may show benefits ... down the road ... rather than after the first few rounds.
This is the path for now --- stay the course --- remain steadfast. There's been times when my treatments showed impactful results LATER, rather than IMMEDIATELY. It's hard to be patient, to be sure, when you're in the midst of treatments.
I can clearly envision your consultations with Dr. Kwon at the iconic Gonda Building on the Mayo Medical Campus. He has an encouraging approach --- and I can tell, from your posts, he is keeping his eye on the future --- in regard to Jeff's case.
When I am visiting with him, I can always see his "gears turning" --- mentally --- factoring in past considerations, and always looking towards the future --- and NEXT STEPS when needed.
Best of all --- I can tell Dr. Kwon is unlocking new doors --- instead of looking at brick walls --- in terms of Jeff's path forward. This is what I have appreciated most of all, in my particular case.
This approach is embraced by my local oncologist, as well --- right before we wrap up each consultation, we tentatively discuss what we will cover at the next appointment. I heartily recommend this idea to other readers here. It takes just a moment, but really "sets the stage" for the future.
It sounds like Jeff's genetic tests could lead to future treatment possibilities. I have had two genetic tests --- one from blood work, the other from tissue samples saved from my original biopsy.
For anyone considering a genetic test, I encourage you to check into insurance coverage first -- as they can be rather costly, if not covered. My doctor filed paperwork with my insurance company to get the genetic tests fully covered.
I'm thankful that Jeff is feeling his best --- and your devotion to him and his well-being shines through in all of your posts, Stephanie.
Sending my support to you both --- and you are both kept close, in my daily thoughts!
Fellowship, support, camaraderie, & caring thoughts ~~~
