I think my signature will bring things up to date.
Had the CT and Bone scans. Both said to be clear.
Of course the initial consultation with surgeon suggested surgery.
Have had two consults with two RO. One at St Lukes Med Ctr and one at Siteman Cancer Ctr at Wash Univ.
Dr Brenneman at Siteman ordered a PET Scan and my insurance denied it. They are appealing it and I'm investigating the out-of-pocket cost if and how beneficial this would be. My wife called into the hospital and got the estimate of $5000 to $12000. Of course, she didn't know to ask if this is "rack rate" or after adjustment to UHC rates. Fortunately I can afford it, but do I NEED it. How beneficial is it? I'm not sure what specific type PET scan was mentioned. Trying to find my notes. I think PMSA. (Need a secretary.)
Curious too if anyone was taking Testosterone injections prior to their PCa Dx? I had been for over 25 years. Always had issues with low-T. I have ceased those T-injections but not yet begun any ADT and already having fatigue and crazy hot flashes. At least that's what I'm assuming it is. (Also had Covid in the past 30 days and the fever & fatigue was extreme. Two days in hospital but no breathing issues.)
Both RO plans were basically the same. No surgery and ADT with some kind of radiation.
St Lukes RO specifically wants to do 9 weeks (M-F) of IMRT beginning after 4 weeks of ADT. 18 months total ADT.
Siteman RO was not as specific yet on the type of radiation as we were awaiting PET Scan results.
