On occasion my husband wakes up in the middle of the night with what he calls a bladder cramp… he says it’s a painful cramping that is relived when he urinates. It doesn’t happen often… maybe a few times a year. This started after his RALP about
3 years ago.
Does anyone else experience anything like this?

It sounds uncommon so I Googled it.... Read through this:

Thanks… I looked into that too. His says it feels like a very mild version of what he felt when waking up from surgery. For him its not associated with incontinence.
We will have to ask the doctor about
it. It started happening right after the RALP.

I have woke up a few times at night since surgery 3+ years ago with an ache down there, like I have been holding it in too long rather than getting up which could have been the case. The visit to the bathroom does not result in massive quick relief like one would expect but once it is over, back to sleep and forget about
it for six months. If it happened all the time, I suppose I would ask my doctor. I always thought it was more related to the RT I had after surgery but who knows.

Hello, Leah77 ~
I know a couple of fellows who now limit caffeine and alcohol consumption, as both impact their "waterworks" ...
Just another angle, that can have an adverse reaction, in terms of kidney and bladder function ...
My dad --- who stands alongside us here as a fellow prostate cancer patient --- has told me he has scaled back his caffeine intake --- especially in the evenings.
Dad states he has noticed a difference --- and has said he sleeps more soundly, as well.
Dad's mantra in these matters is expressed in these words:
"You gotta' do whatever it takes to keep the 'WATERWORKS' flowing!"
I'm not giving up the iced tea I brew each day, but I have been remembering to drink more cold water each day!
I always follow your posts, Leah77 ~~~ and I want to extend my very best to you and your husband. I always appreciate your posts and contributions here!
Just a couple of thoughts to share, for the good of the cause ~~~
