Given that you're calling it sinus tachycardia, I'm guessing you may have already talked to a cardiologist. If not, you probably should. If tachycardia, there could be any number of causes. Or, is it perhaps atrial fibrillation (which I've been dealing with for four years now. On Nov. 10th, I'm actually scheduled to have a total thoracoscopic modified MAZE procedure to try to finally get ride of Afib. Afib, you know elevates the risk or stroke, and tachycardia may carry the same risk. There are rate control drugs (e.g., Diltiazem) which can keep the heart at a reasonable rate. Good luck in figuring out what's going on.
