Post radiation after surgery

What to expect after radiation PSA was 0.47 rise after surgery then radiation PSA now 0.13 now my oncologist talking chemo if it rises I don't know if I done radiation too early or should I think about doing what he says anyone having this issue please respond thank you

Hi Ubetternoit,
So, I believe you are saying that you had surgery and then at some point you had salvage radiation. Your oncologist has decided that you currently have a recurrence. I hope I have that right.

The current SOC would say that at some point you will go on Lupron and shortly thereafter you will start on Chemo (Docetaxel) or have one of the 2nd generation antiandrogens such as Zytiga or Xtandi added to the Lupron.

This should give you a better idea of where the current thinking is after surgery and radiation.

I would let PSA rise a little more to be sure where it is heading and obtain a PSMA scan to see if the cause can be located. Treatment options are a guessing game without scans and data. There is a time and place for chemo which Dr. Kwon explains well.
