New radioligand therapy using radioactive copper

This article is very interesting and I thought I'd share it with the group. It details a new radioligand therapy that dropped one person's PSA from 42 to undetectable with just two treatments. The ligand binds to two PSMA receptors on the cancer cell which binds it more tightly so that it can deliver the radioactive payload for a longer period of time. Very interesting and promising.

This is great news. I have always held out hope with radiopharmaceutical approaches. Let's hope this leads to possible durable responses.

PSMA is such an attractive point ('Achilles heel') for developing therapies. Many other than Pluvicto are under consideration. For instance, one can use a 'bullet' like the one mentioned above (Cu-67), but other approaches use Actinium-225 as the radioactive 'bullet'.
