Three healthcare professionals are standing in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, hoping to be admitted to heaven.
St. Peter asks the first one, “Why should you get into heaven?”
He says, "Well, I was a doctor and I could have made a ton of money as a specialist in the city, but I decided to locate to the country where there was a big need for GPs, despite making less money."
St. Peter goes to his big book, runs his finger down a page, finds the guy's name, and says “Okay, you’re in!” and the guy goes on in to heaven.
St. Peter then asks the second person "Why should you get into heaven?”
“Well, I was a researcher and I worked for years on cures for various diseases, and did find cures for many of them,” he says. St. Peter checks the book, finds his name, and says, “Okay, you’re in too."
He then turns to the third person and asks him "Why should you get into heaven?”
The guy says, “I worked for a large managed healthcare company and made decisions on whether individual cases would be approved for treatment or not."
St. Peter checks the book, looks up at the guy and says, “Good news! You’ve been pre-approved for a 14-day stay!”
