I had a PSMA in February which identified cancer recurrence and I still haven’t had a biopsy. It took 3 months after the PSMA to have a mpMRI. Now, due to scheduling problems, my biopsy is not until October.
Since my scans have both shown only local involvement, my hope and plan were to have salvage treatment. That may be too late now. The cancer will have had 9 months to spread. And that’s just the time to get the scans and biopsy done. If I want to pursue brachytherapy, I’ll still have to send medical records to Dr Zelefsky, meet with him, and schedule treatment. All of that will take more time, as will some likely additional testing if I decide to have cryotherapy. Another PSMA will be needed to see if it’s still local before any salvage treatment——another 2-3 months wait. My guess is any treatment I may have will not happen until early 2025, and that’s if the cancer is confined to the prostate.
