Had 13 years before AMS 800 had to be replaced. Went to Cleveland Clinic Nov 18, 2024 for preoperative testing during which they verified the AMS wasn't inviting properly and needed replacement. November 19th, surgery started at approximately 11:30 and by 4:30 pm that day was released and headed home. There was pain, not unbearable with ibuprofen and ice. My scrotum for a 2 weeks looked as if someone used it for punching bad and was very black - not blue until after 2 weeks. I had to wait 5 - 6 weeks of healing before the new AMS 800 was activated. Yesterday I had the nurse and intern activate it. They had little problem with activation during which the reservoir pump is opened to cuff. I noted the new cuff was 4 cm vs old 4.5 cm. After 5 weeks of depends at night and big pads, I was grateful to be rid of those.
Last night first time in many months and maybe years I was totally dry. Still getting use to the device since the position is little different than old device and have some encapsulation from old device.
So far so good, little sore because of problem with activation. Have message to doctor since I use Timms Here to device and not certain if problem using it. I used it with old device so wanted to be certain new device position isn't effected by its use.

Except for the length of time to replacement, mine was 4 years, your healing experience mirrors mine. I had my cuff downsized from a 5 to a 4.5. It’s in a slightly more distal position and the pump is a bit behind rather than next to its neighbor. All that is fine since it works. The big difference this time is that some of the nerves in the scrotum are still quite sensitive and I feel them when I change positions. It will be a year next week since the surgery.
