I've been a guinea pig for a drug study on Asacol for about 3 weeks. I did OK until this week. Pain! Lots of it. My gut is twittering like a scared puppy.

What is happening when the gut is twittering? I'm not experiencing gas or frequent stools. Just pain and mild cramping. Oh yeah, my ankles and wrists are aching - a sure sign that colitis is looming near.

Sounds like spasming or increased activity....could, however, be what you ate going through the tubes..or..IBS.

You could ask the doc to prescribe dicyclomine...works well for me.

How much Asacol are you taking? The study is to take them all once a day, right?

I take six pills once a day.
